Nba 2k12 how many points to dunk

I don't know what it is, but whenever I'm going inside to dunk, my player is instead trying to put up a layup I'm assuming because I've got defenders in front of me, but that doesn't matter to Blake!?! I would upgrade dunk Rockstar And Konami Teamed Up!

By that, I mean there's like a different animation when you're simply changing hands. Like if you're a center and if you switched the ball to your other hand, it ends up looking slow and awkward.
