Why can i paste formats in excel

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I tested all that and it doesn't work. I am trying to copy formulas and past them and that doesn't work.

Formulas should give you the option to either paste with formulas or just the values. The same thing goes if I place a border around the cells, I should get the option to paste with formatting or just the data. I can do all this fine on another machine using the same data.

I have followed numerous other possible solutions that I have found scrounging the internet, which included disabling all add-ons, turning off skype click to call and anything else I could have found. It hasn't worked. Under Cut, copy and paste, ensure Show Paste Options button when content is pasted is checked.

Thanks, but all that was already tried. Didn't work. Excel was stated in safe mode and it still does the same thing. No other programs were running on the computer either. This behavior occurs when a VNC client is running on your system with clipboard transfer enabled. It messes up clipboard functionality, resulting in the behavior described by the OP. In the Settings menu of your VNC client, disable Clipboard transfer and your spreadsheet program should return to normal. Thanks for the information.
