Why convert saiga 12
Also , with the rifles, "Converting" adds the necessary mechanism and space to use standard, double stacked ,hi capacity usually, AK magazines rather than the factory and proprietary magazines that the Saiga factory uses and are small capacity and very expensive. This is not really a step in the Saiga 12, they all can hold the mags of the world from 2 rounds to what d othey come, at least 25 round drums, if not more?
Its just a legal issue. There is a "magwell" conversion which is an installation that accepts SPECIFIC magwell magazines that you can slam right up in there aka INSERT vertically right to the gun in the magwell rather than the standard AK way that all Saigas use, rocking the mag in from the front tip into the back to lock into place.
I guess if I had a completely customized absolutely beautiful and awesome Pistol gripped Saiga 12 with a fancy AR stock and pistol grip and forward quad rail with Aimpoint Micro optic or EOTech etc. I might want that but, really, its meh to me. I have bought 17 Saiga 12 mags in te time we got the S12 in October. I am pretty confident I am well armed and well equipped.
And lands you in jail in NJ Weren't we discussing a Saiga, and are we not in the shotgun forums. Come-on guys, stay with the program. NO pistol grips on ANY semi auto shotguns, doesn't matter who made it either. I wasn't paying attention as to which forum this was posted in as I was going through my unread topics in Tapatalk on my iPhone. I apologize. You guys make it confusing when the "unconverted" pic is a shotgun and the "converted" pic is a rifle Just in case you don't see it on his profile, Vladtepes is in Pennsylvania.

We don't take pride in a job well done in Amerika anymore do we comrade? There's a reason the world has progressed beyond using "vintage" military firearms. Groovy Write up!!!! I don't know what the exact wording on the mag limit for "sporting configuration" is 10 or more, or greater than Also, I said LOP is shortened ", when it's the length of the gun that is shortened that much.
LOP is dependent on the stock. Very nice write up Nice write up! Now everyone bookmark it and use it as your standard response when the guys come on here and look for validation on why they should not restore their firearm.
Damn I sick of that! But seriously, for the sticky, does r apply at "over 5 rounds", at 10 rounds, or "over 10 rounds" of mag capacity for shotguns? I looked it up on the net and got all sorts of answers. I know Bob Ash once gave a solid number, but I'm not going to be able to find that thread. Money says Bob Ash or Tony Rumore know this one off the top of their head. For now, I have to advise people to be r compliant with anything over 5 rounds. Shotguns are either at that level or lower. Thank you so much for the positive info I'm convinced.
Also, as an example, I see Danzig has several of each kind of gizmo to choose from. How do I know what of a particular part to get? I don't have a clue what to get and what works best.
Any help? Thanks in advance. There's a secret handshake!? Remember, hobbies don't count toward any real money-making time, you can't say that spending 10 hours on your hobby is like losing 10 hours of work I just wanted to add, in Connecticut a pistol grip and full conversion is legal. You can not however, add a folding stock and a pistol grip evil features. Dumb but true.
No it isn't, Dave. The law is that you can only have one of the following in a semi auto shotgun:. As the Saiga is a semi automatic shotgun with a detachable magazine to start with, it cannot have any of the other three items on that list.
That's what I went with, and I'd advise that to you. Just get a 1 hook, that way you don't have to cut your receiver. AK's once had two hooks in case one broke, but it turns out they never do. Buy a Saiga, field strip it, and then pull the trigger and watch stuff move.
Recock the hammer when it flies up and watch it as many times as it takes to understand it. Get a Saiga FCG, cut off your rivets, pull out all the parts, and follow a conversion tutorial. By the end of that you'll know everything about your gun. There are also people that will do this work for you, or Cobra here runs a business of answering specific questions on people's builds.
Ok, I have a few questions. I am not new to building and modifying firearms. I have a saiga 12 which I just acquired and would like to modify it. I would like a some pointers on what I need to purchase other than the obvious parts. Thank you in advance for the input.
You will need to move the FCG. It will make the gun better. There are tons of how-tos out there. Ask some of the forum lawyers or go over to the Saiga 12 forum and look there. I would hate for you to get jammed up for a fun little project that runs afoul of our myriad gun laws that do little to nothing to make us safer. I may turn one of mine into a pistol if it's all legit. I always wanted a 12 gauge hand cannon. I was approached recently as a potential outsource to modify components for a "shorty" shotgun manufacturer.
Sifting through all the paperwork provided to me, I came to understand that you can only make an AOW using a shotgun that came from the original factory with a pistol grip and NO butt stock.
If starting with a shotgun that came from the original factory with a butt stock, you can are converting it to Short-Barreled Shotgun, not an AOW.
